
VOLLEYBALL BRINGS OUT THE BROOMS IN THREE-SET SWEEP OVER NEWBERRY
Newberry, SC - Something was in the air tonight in Newberry, SC as the Cobras swept the Wolves 3-0 (26-24, 25-14, 25-12) in a South Atlantic Conference match-up on the road.
The first set was one to watch, with Coker starting hot and jumping out to an early 7-2 lead. The Wolves chose not to go quietly into the night, eventually bringing this even at 10-10. A back-and-forth set ensued, as 25 points weren't enough to win this one. After barely any separation, the Cobras pulled this one out 26-24.
The second and third sets saw the Cobras in their best form to date. In the first set there was barely any separation, but in the second and third sets there was nothing but separation. Coker dominated the last two sets, winning 25-24 and 25-12, respectively, to complete the sweep.
Naiomi Earl-Reyes had her best showing to date, co-leading the team in kills with 9 and a .375 hitting percentage. Taylor Hills was the other Cobra with 9 kills and had a respectable .333 hitting percentage. Laila Hixon and Maddy Roberts were both in double figures in the assists category with 18 and 14, respectively. Meadow Morse (15) and Alyssa Carey (10) rounded out the double-figure statistics, meeting that mark in digs.
Coker has a quick turnaround, as they will travel upstate to face off against Southern Wesleyan not even 24 hours later. First serve tomorrow is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
