Women Soccer Take Down the Lions 4-0 in Their Season Opener

Hartsville, SC- In a dominant performance, the Coker women's soccer team defeated Emmanuel (GA) with a final score of 4-0 on September 5, 2024. The game took place at Coker Athletic Field with an attendance of 50 spectators.

Coker took an early lead in the first half with goals from Kira Boelke, Chloe Mullen, and Maia Clark. Boelke scored the opening goal in the 18th minute assisted by Clark, followed by Mullen finding the back of the net in the 29th minute with an assist from Mila Rausch. Clark extended Coker's lead to 3-0 in the 32nd minute with an unassisted goal.

The second half saw Coker continue their strong performance, with Isabella Rychel scoring in the 48th minute to seal the victory for her team.

Coker's defense was solid throughout the game, limiting Emmanuel's scoring opportunities and allowing goalkeeper Helena Sedelmaier to only make one save in the second half. Emmanuel goalkeeper A'Leigh Coleman made four saves in the first half before being replaced by Sedelmaier in the second half.

The game featured a total of 20 shots, with Coker having a slight edge in possession and creating more scoring chances. Coker also earned more corner kicks and committed fewer fouls compared to Emmanuel.
