Coker Hosts Tusculum for Women's Lacrosse Match-Up
Coker drops game to Tusculum
Hartsville, SC - The Coker University Women's Lacorsse team dropped their game against Tusculum on Saturday (March 11th) by a score of 20-6.
Tusculum started off scoring two mintues into the game with a goal from Abby Lockwood (assisted by Natalie Dagley). Tusculum was able to rattle off two more goals before Hailey Morgan, a Freshman from Corsicana, Texas, was able to land her first goal in the back of the net off a free-position shot. This took the score to 3-1, bringing the Pioneers' lead down to two. Kamryn McNeil and Tia Daniel both registered a goal in the second half of the first quater to extend the Pioneers' lead. Coker continued to fight back in the first quarter, Amariah Lawson also scoring off a free-position shot. With four mintues left in the first quarter, Hailey Morgan claimed her second goal of the game, bringing the score to 5-3.
Tusculum started off the second quarter with two goals before Madeline Hart put her first goal into the back of the cage. Madeline Hart also claimed the Cobras fifth goal in the last four mintues of the second quarter. Despite efforts by Coker, Tusculum went on a six goal run in the third quarter, taking their lead to 15-5. Hailey Morgan attempted to swing momentum back in Coker's direction with a late goal in the third quarter but unfortunately, that would be the final goal for the Cobras.
Coker registered 15 shots, Hailey Morgan claiming nine of those shots. There were 17 ground balls picked up by the Cobras, Hailey Morgan once again leadinig with four. The Cobras went 10-11 in clears and 4-7 in free position shots. Evenly matched in draw controls, Coker claimed 14 to Tusculum's 16.
Zoe Cotheran, in the cage for the entirety of the game, registered 10 saves out of 30 shots.
The Cobras will be returning to the field on Wednesday (March 15th) against Lenoir-Rhyne. The first draw will be taken at 7:00 PM in Hartsville, SC. Live stats and streaming will be available at www.cokercobras.com
