Jenkins' Career Day Leads Coker to 18-7 Non-Conference Victory
Freshman Claudia Jenkins set the single-game goal record and tied the single-game point record in the Coker women's lacrosse team's 18-7 rout of Lees-McRae on Saturday (Feb. 14) afternoon.
HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Freshman Claudia Jenkins had a day for the record books as the Coker women's lacrosse team cruised to an 18-7 rout of Lees-McRae College on Saturday (Feb. 14) afternoon. The Cobras are now 1-1 on the season.
Jenkins finished the game with a single-game record six goals and two assists for eight points, which ties a single-game record. The freshman also had six draw controls and picked up seven ground balls. Haley McCusker added four goals of her own; while Mackenzie Baker finished with three goals, two assists, seven draw controls and five ground balls. Danielle Holcomb chipped in three goals and an assist. Shannon Jessop and Marabeth Durden scored one goal apiece, while Lindsay Ordemann handed out one assist.
Cierra Davis paced the defense and picked up the win for the Cobras, finishing the game with seven saves.
The game was all Coker from start to finish, as the Cobras held an 11-4 lead going into halftime. The Navy and Yellow would tag on seven more goals in the second half, while only giving up three to secure the 18-7 win.
Coker will take a weeklong break and open up South Atlantic Conference play next Saturday (Feb. 21) with the Wolves of Newberry College. The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
