Men's Tennis Grabs First Win Against JCSU
Charlotte, NC – The Coker Men's Tennis team grabbed their first win on the season in a weekend away match versus the Golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith University.
The Golden Bulls only fielded four athletes for the match, which meant they had to forfeit third doubles along with five and six singles. So, the Cobras went into this contest already up 2-0 and with a hefty advantage in doubles.
Although they only needed to win on one of the doubles courts, Coker took the win on both to sweep the doubles matches. Tom Lamers and Thibaut Decaluwe won 6-4 on court one, while Oskar Bjuroe and Caspar Grylls teamed up to get their first win together on court three with a 6-1 final.
For singles, courts two through four won to secure the 6-1 victory for the Cobras. Joao Casas Moreira was up 4-0 on court two before his opponent defaulted, while Carlos Nau Castenada and Oskar Bjuroe won on courts three and four with 6-3, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-1 scorelines, respectively.
After playing three matches in three days, the Cobras will take a few days off and be back in action against the Trojans of Mount Olive on Saturday, February 24th. First serve for that one is scheduled for 1:00 PM ET.
