Cobras Take Down UVA-Wise Led by Leavell's 33 points

Hartsville, SC- Coker University defeated UVA-Wise in a high-scoring basketball game on January 20, 2024. The final score was 109-103 in favor of Coker. The game took place at the DeLoach Center.

The first half saw a close battle between the two teams, with Coker taking a one-point lead at halftime, 49-48. However, in the second half, Coker extended their lead by scoring 60 points compared to UVA Wise's 55 points.

Cobras were led by Andre Leavell who scored 33 points, while Tate Mulkey had 25 points. Leavell had an outstanding game, shooting 13 for 21 from the field. The team's three-point shooting was led by Mulkey, who made 5 out of 9 attempts from beyond the arc. Mahmoud Bangura also had a solid performance off the bench, scoring 17 points.

Both teams had a similar shooting percentage, with Coker shooting 53.5% from the field and UVA-Wise shooting 54.3%. However, Coker was more efficient from the free-throw line, making 87.5% of their free throws compared to UVA Wise's 61.5%.

Coker had the advantage in terms of rebounding, grabbing 43 rebounds compared to UVA Wise's 31 rebounds. Bangura was particularly effective on the glass, pulling down 9 rebounds for Coker.
