Bio

Austin Ambrose joined the Coker University men's lacrosse staff in August 2021. He was brought on as an assistant coach under former Coker head coach Rob Snow and served in that role for the 2022 and 2023 seasons. In Ambrose's second year as Assistant Coach, he helped guide the Cobras to a record of 7-8, including three in South Atlantic Conference play. With the help of Ambrose's coaching, the Men's Lacrosse Team had one player named to the South Atlantic Conference All-Conference Second Team: Nate Allan. Allan was also named as a Third Team All-American for the 2022-23 season. Michael Jensen, a freshman from Woodstock, GA, earned the 2022-23 statistical champion in caused turnovers.

In the Fall 2023 semester, Ambrose was elevated to Interim Head Coach, and, following a solid 2024 season for the Cobras, was named the official head coach of Coker Men's Lacrosse. In that 2024 season, Ambrose led the Cobras to a SAC Quarterfinal appearance. He coached Michael Jensen, who led not only the team and conference in Caused Turnovers per Game, but the entire nation with 3.93 CTOs per game.

In his latest campaign, the Cobras fell just one spot short of a repeat appearance in the SAC Quarterfinals. It was another record-breaking year for the Cobras, with multiple athletes etching their names in the record books. One of these records included Justin Beighey, who set the Coker and SAC record for goals (11) and points (16) in a game in a dominant outing for the squad. In that same game, Brandon Calidonio set the record for ground balls in a game in Coker Men's Lacrosse history. In fact, eight different players from Ambrose's roster from last season find themselves on sixteen different All-Time lists. He also had the team third All-Time in CTOs (156) and saves (208) in a single season.

Ambrose came to Coker after serving as the head coach at Montreat College since 2019. In 2020, his Montreat team earned the highest team GPA in program history. In 2021, his team set the program's single-game goals record. He also serves as the Director of Operations for Atlanta Lacrosse Club. Ambrose previously worked with head coach John Snow at Reinhardt University as the defensive coordinator, helping Reinhardt to NAIA national championships in 2018 and 2019. In addition to his duties at Reinhardt, he was the Co-Founder and Director of Operations for the Atlanta Kings Lacrosse Club. Before joining the Atlanta Kings Club, he coached travel lacrosse as well as at the high school level.

As a player, Ambrose currently plays for the Italian Hermitage team while previously being on the practice squad for the Ohio Machine. Ambrose was a goalie for Snow at RU from 2015-19, earning NAIA All-American honors twice, being the Team Captain for two years, a two-time conference Defensive Player of the Year, and being a part of the 2017 NAIA national championship team.

Ambrose holds a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies from Reinhardt and a master's degree in college athletic administration at Coker.
