Cobras and Bulldogs Collide in Saturday Nightcap
The Coker College men's lacrosse team is set to take on the visiting Wingate University Bulldogs at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College men's lacrosse team is eyeing its third-straight win on Saturday evening (Mar. 26) as they host the Wingate University Bulldogs in a South Atlantic Conference matchup. Opening faceoff is set for 7 p.m. with live stats and video available at www.cokercobras.com.
The two teams have met three times, with the Cobras holding a perfect 3-0 record. In the most recent matchup, the Cobras picked up an 8-6 road win.
Shane Wilson and Mike Martiello continue to lead a Navy and Gold offense that is scoring 9.75 goals per game. Wilson is fourth in the SAC with 23 goals and tied for sixth with 26 total points. Martiello is tied for sixth with 19 goals and is tied for second with 17 assists and 36 total points. Josh Smith continues to be a triple threat for the Cobras, netting nine goals, dishing out seven assists and scooping up 28 ground balls. On the defensive end, Patrick Timothee and DeShaun Ormond lead the way with 12 and 10 caused turnovers apiece.
The Bulldogs make the trip down to Hartsville with a 5-5 overall and a 2-1 SAC record. They have four goal scorers with ten-plus goals, led by the duo of Daniel Godwin and Austin Murphy, who have 15 apiece. Between the pipes, Jacob Ormerod leads the conference in save percentage and is second in saves.
Opening faceoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Coker College Athletic Field. Tickets for the game are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
